Seven Sport students from Accrington and Rossendale College have achieved top grades in their Level 3 studies and are progressing on to university.

The septet who have all achieved Triple Distinction* are made up by Lydia Main and Becky Holden, previously of Haslingden High School, and Lucas Eastham and Finlay Anderson, formerly of St Christopher’s CE High School.

Completing the group of high achievers are Benjamin Langley, who attended St Gabriel’s RC High School, Ruby Cornwall, formerly of All Saints’ RC High School, and Hannah Harrison, previously of Mount Carmel RC High School.

Progression destinations for the super seven include Liverpool John Moores University, the University of Derby, UCFB and Leeds Trinity University, with career pathways ranging from Football Business and Marketing through to Sports Rehabilitation and Therapy.

Becky, 18, is progressing onto Liverpool John Moores University to study Sport Psychology as she pursues a career as sports psychologist.

She said: “I enjoyed my time at College as the tutors are so supportive and are always there to help if you need it, no matter what it is.

“College was definitely more independent which was perfect for me as it allowed me to work more efficiently and the standard of my work was also significantly better.

“I would recommend Accrington and Rossendale College as it provides students with a wide range of great opportunities. The support you get from the tutors is amazing and they always push you to achieve you best.”

Lydia, 18, will study the new Sport Coaching and Performance degree at Accrington and Rossendale College University, awarded by Liverpool John Moores University.

She said: “The tutors at College are very friendly and help cater to every person’s individual needs in order to support them develop and reach their full potential.

“I have enjoyed meeting new people in smaller class sizes and getting to know them all on a personal level.

“My ambition is work at the highest level in whichever area of sport I choose to pursue my career in.”
