Apprenticeship Ambassador Q&A - Heath Groves

Please introduce yourself and your company

My name is Heath Groves and I’m the CEO of Sundown Solutions.

How many employees do you have and what’s your turnover?

We employ 41 people in full and part-time roles. We also have 7 non-executive directors to help us grow our business. Our turnover is approaching the £5 million mark.

What sector is your business in?

We’re a tech firm that specialises in helping companies move from on premises to cloud computing. We provide bespoke systems to businesses.

Do you export or operate in different countries?

We’re 100% UK based.

Tell me about the history of your company.

We set up back in 2009 after the last recession. We were part of a training academy which had to close because the recession hit. Training was the first thing to go.

We worked as developers for hire and from there we progressed, working directly for Microsoft up until 2015. Now we also create products and services for customers in the public and private sector.

What different careers can be achieved for young people in your company?

We have some fantastic opportunities. With us you can do anything from project management to technical development, full stack development, front end developer, Office 365, and data visualisation with Microsoft Power BI. We’re offering some really top opportunities. We also want to encourage young people to come and have a go, and then move to a different part of the business so they get a taste of all different areas.

What jobs are currently available and how do people apply?

We’ve got a whole raft of apprenticeships available right now. We have two Power BI and Data Specialist internships that are currently open. We always have a minimum of four apprenticeship slots available every quarter.

We never shut the door if qualified and motivated talent comes to us. You don’t have to be the most technical person. You don’t have to be a coder. All you need is the right mindset and the right attitude to achieve things.

If anyone wants to apply, they should contact us directly for an informal discussion. Visit our the contact us page of our website www.sundownsolutions.com/contact-us/ for how to get in touch.
