Lancashire housewares manufacturer and exporter, What More UK, is proudly committed to the manufacturing heartland of East Lancashire. Recently they expanded their state of the art facility, increasing manufacturing capabilities and capacity at their site in Altham, as part of a £20m investment plan.
What More UK is one of the largest and most important houseware manufacturers in the UK. It’s the organisation behind the popular brand Wham, available in every major UK supermarket and a further 1600 independent retailers.
All of their products carry the official, protected Made in Britain mark. The collective mark unites the British manufacturing sector, and Made in Britain now has a membership of more than 1,800 businesses. What More UK were proud to be one of the founder members of the organisation, and have been a supportive member from the very beginning.
The Made in Britain mark enables buyers and consumers alike to source products that are genuinely Made in Britain. Members also communicate best practise, network with each other, and have access to useful programmes and initiatives such as Green Growth and the International Trade programmes. They also get involved with national initiatives such as Thank You Day, on Sunday 5 June 2022 to coincide with the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.
What More buys materials as locally as possible, and then exports finished products all over the world, some 76 different countries. Each one of those displays the Made in Britain mark.
Company Director Tony Grimshaw OBE, commented: “I firmly believe the Made in Britain mark assists us in our export sales. Both here and abroad, being Made in Britain is a sign of manufacturing quality. I’m really proud of our manufacturing heritage in East Lancashire, and we continue to keep our skills up to date and suitable for future needs by investing in our staff, and employing and training apprentices. We have been Made in Britain from the very start!”
