Hyndburn-based tech company, Sundown Solutions, a Microsoft Gold Partner, is partnering with IN4 Group’s Skills City operation to develop its Microsoft Azure certified data analytics bootcamp, bridging the gap between education and real-world experience and supporting people into technology careers.

As a recognised expert in helping companies find digital solutions to large scale, technical problems and an employer looking for local talent, Sundown Solutions is enabling the data analytics bootcamp to match its training curriculum with the necessary skills that are required in the workplace.

Led by Blackburn entrepreneur Mo Isap, Skills City has secured government funding to run digital Skills Bootcamps from bases in Preston, Lancashire, and Media City in Salford. The programmes are designed to be accessible to people from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds and support them directly into technology careers with local businesses, such as Sundown Solutions. Currently, 43% of the attendees are female, with a target of 50% to drive gender parity in the sector.

According to a Microsoft survey, more than two-thirds (69%) of UK business leaders believe their organisation is currently facing a digital skills gap. Many are concerned that the lack of digital skills in their organisation will impact success. WorldSkills UK found that 60 per cent of businesses believe that their reliance on advanced digital skills is set to increase over the next five years, while 88 per cent of young people realise that their digital skills will be essential for their careers.

Sundown Solutions’ chief executive officer, Heath Groves, said, “Digital skills requirements are in ever increasing demand, and will continue to be highly sought after by employers, as companies evolve to suit future needs. We’re a tech company and put people through intensive training ourselves, and we’re happy to work with Skills City’s bootcamps to provide much needed levelling up opportunities for skills training in the local area. If you can match the training on offer, with the needs of employers, and the right mindset and attitude of the learner, we will have a solid pipeline of employable people for many years to come.

66 trainees will graduate from the first Bootcamps in just twelve weeks, and we will have immediate vacancies for 10 of them. The rest will be primed and ready to start a successful career bringing up to date digital skills to any employer.”

Mo Isap, CEO of IN4 Group, said: “We are thrilled to be working with a local technology employer like Sundown Solutions, who are offering exciting entry-level opportunities so people can hit the ground running in their digital careers. With their outstanding Microsoft credentials and this unique employer-led approach, we are proud to support them with hiring highly skilled talent through our apprenticeships at Skills City and further increasing fair access to technology careers in the region.”
