Accrington Stanley Women are unbeaten at the start of their league, the North West Women’s Regional League Division One North. Their playing schedule included an away trip to Workington in Cumbria, nearly a three-hour journey and Accrington and Rossendale College were happy to support them by lending them a minibus to aid their transport to away games.

Speaking from Accrington and Rossendale’s campus, Kelly-Ann Groves, the Chair of Accrington Stanley Women FC, commented: “We have been trying to get a minibus and find a sponsor for our 22/23 season, as we don’t have access to one – so it’s great news Accrington and Rossendale College have stepped in to offer support. The first team were away at Workington recently which is our longest away trip at nearly 3 hours. The girls really enjoyed the transport, and we’re really grateful for the help!”

Charlotte Scheffmann, Dean of Higher Education at Accrington and Rossendale College added, “We’re really pleased to help Kelly-Ann from Sundown Solutions who heads up Accrington Stanley Women. We can support them and lend them our minibus to get their young players out to their away games. All the best and best of luck to Accrington Stanley Women, they’ll have a great season!”

Accrington and Rossendale College are part of the Nelson and Colne College group. They are award-winning providers of diverse, high-quality education for 16-18 school leavers courses, apprenticeships and more, based on Sandy Lane in Accrington.
