Top regional training provider, North Lancs Training Group, is to sponsor a brand-new classroom at the local sporting charity, Accrington Stanley Community Trust. It’s an example of organisations working together for the benefit of everyone.

North Lancs Training Group is one of the region’s largest and most important providers of apprenticeships and vocational training.  They have been operating in the area for over 50 years. In that time, they’ve achieved an extraordinary level of success.

Now the renowned training group is sharing the benefits with the local community, by sponsoring a classroom at Accrington Stanley Community Trust’s new £2m sports hub. Working together, these two organisations are keeping the children of Accrington healthy, happy, and giving them choices in their future career paths.

Accrington Stanley Community Trust is a charity close to the hearts of many in Accrington and the surrounding townships. It’s had an enormous impact in the area.

In 2020/21 they engaged with over 20,000 individuals. This included offering free blood pressure checks, organising literacy programmes for primary school children, adult education, and sporting activities for the entire community. In addition to this they offer a two year Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching and Development.

Martin Fearon, CEO of Accrington Stanley Community Trust, explained about the sponsorship deal and what it will mean to the charity:

“Because of this great deal with North Lancs Training Group, we can take a step closer towards our long-term goal of a healthier, happier and more inclusive Accrington. We’ll continue to develop and enhance our current projects while looking to the future and how we can promote healthier lifestyles in the community through sport.”

“It’s great to have two local organisations working together towards a shared goal. This is going to be a benefit to everyone in the area.”

Gareth Lindsay, Managing Director of North Lancs Training Group added:

“Accrington Stanley Community Trust is a local treasure. We’re keen to support them because of our shared values and vision for our local community and education, we want to tell more people about our training and apprenticeship programmes. It’s about signposting students to appropriate courses, and we will enjoy working together on this goal. If 20,000 people visit Accrington Stanley Community Trust every year, that is an ideal partnership. Plus, we will look forward to using the facilities for our staff. Here at North Lancs Training Group we focus on inclusion and social welfare, so a partnership like this makes really good sense.”
