Mount Carmel Roman Catholic High School recently hosted a special presentation to showcase what their Year 7 students love the most about Accrington.

Representatives from #AmazingAccrington were invited to judge the presentations, with a number of Accrington Stanley themed prizes available for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

In the weeks before the event, the Year 7 students spent time researching facts and statistics about the town, as well as getting together in their teams to discuss what makes Accrington so special to them.

The superbly delivered presentations focus on a number of key areas including Accrington Stanley, the Peel Family, Haworth Art Gallery, local parks, food outlets, and events in the town such as the Soapbox Challenge, Food Festival and Light Switch On, plus much more.

Students were praised for their passionate presentations, as well as their research and knowledge of the local area.

Zahida Shamim from #AmazingAccrington, said: “The students all did amazing, their presentations were fantastic and it was great to see so much passion and enthusiasm for Accrington.

“While there could only be three winning groups, all the students should be proud of themselves for producing such well-prepared presentations. Well done!”

Jill Bowers, Assistant Curriculum Lead for English at Mount Carmel RC High School, said: “The students have thoroughly enjoyed working on their presentations and felt really rewarded by being able to present them in front of #AmazingAccrington.

“Our students are very passionate about Accrington and that really showed in what they presented.”
