Freelance Multi-Lingual Project Officer

Pay: £25/hour

We are seeking a part-time freelance Multi-Lingual Project Officer for our National Lottery Heritage Fund project, Oswaldtwistle Mills Education and Heritage Project. One of the key project commitments is to engage South Asian heritage people in Hyndburn with Oswaldtwistle Mill to include their stories within the collection. The role holder will work closely with regional voluntary sector organisations.

This exciting and varied role will be key to engaging Asian women and allowing them to contribute to and participate in the education and heritage Project.

We are looking for an individual to develop information sessions and workshops to capture the stories of Asian women who worked at the local mills, so their stories can be included in the collection and shared with the community.

Key areas of responsibility:

Community Engagement:

• Build relationships with the female Asian community groups to promote workshops and clinics.
• Identify innovative ways to engage.
• Attend workshops and provide on-site support to participants.
• Capture the stories.

Qualifications: Experience and Skills:

• Proven experience in outreach or community engagement.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Multilingual abilities, especially in Urdu.

Attributes:

• Passion for empowering underrepresented communities.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
• Strong organisational skills to manage participant recruitment and event logistics.
• Proven track record of working effectively at grassroots level, engaging with South Asian and minoritised communities, and in particular with women.
